Perfume factory shut down

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently closed down a perfume factory in Alkhomra, southern Jeddah, for placing “made in France” stickers on its products.
A ministry squad seized more than 72,000 bottles of perfume from the factory and sent samples to a lab for testing.
The squad questioned the factory owner and handed over the case to Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
“We found more than 1,600 “made in France” stickers at the factory and a machine for printing them,” a ministry official said, adding that the factory was cheating the public by putting such stickers on its products.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to fight trade fraud and punish those who violate the country’s trade regulations and fail to fulfill international obligations.
Consumers have been instructed to contact toll-free number 8001241616 if they have any complaints against traders and shops.
